Natural Avalanches Forces Snowbird & Alta Back Into Interlodge

BREAKING: Snowbird and Alta resorts have been forced to close due to a natural avalanche that occurred on the lower south face of Mt Superior. The resorts had just opened for the first time since a recent blizzard hit the Little Cottonwood Canyon, but skiers and snowboarders were allowed to enter despite the roads to the resort still being closed. The avalanche occurred in the afternoon, sending debris across SR-210 and into the resorts' beginner terrain known as Chickadee.

Alta and Snowbird Closed Due To Interlodge & 30 Inch Blizzard

Skiers hoping to celebrate the 800-inch milestone at Alta Ski Area will have to wait a bit longer due to severe avalanche hazards. Both Alta and neighbouring Snowbird have announced their closure for the day, citing the risks of avalanches in Little Cottonwood Canyon. The situation has led to the imposition of Interlodge restrictions, requiring guests to remain indoors until further notice to avoid putting themselves and others in danger.
