    Just east of Yellowstone National Park, Sleeping Giant Ski Area combines deep Wyoming heritage with remarkable mountain terrain. Operating since 1936, this historic ski area features 184 acres of diverse slopes and 900 feet of vertical drop. The mountain offers a rare combination of challenging expert runs alongside gentle learning terrain, all set against the dramatic backdrop of the Absaroka Range. As one of America's oldest ski areas, Sleeping Giant continues to honor its legacy while providing modern amenities.

    Sleeping Giant Lift System

    Sleeping Giant's three-lift system provides comprehensive access to the mountain's varied terrain. The main triple chair serves the summit's most challenging runs, while a second triple chair accesses intermediate terrain. A dedicated beginner area, served by a magic carpet, creates an ideal learning environment. This thoughtfully designed lift network maintains short lines and ensures efficient access to all 49 runs, letting skiers maximize their time on the slopes.

    Location & Getting There

    Sleeping Giant stands proudly 47 miles west of Cody, Wyoming, along the scenic North Fork Highway to Yellowstone. This location in the Shoshone National Forest places it at the eastern gateway to Yellowstone National Park, surrounded by some of Wyoming's most spectacular wilderness. The surrounding area offers year-round outdoor activities, from cross-country skiing to wildlife viewing, making Sleeping Giant an ideal base for exploring this remarkable region of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

    Each season at Sleeping Giant showcases the mountain's distinct character. Winter brings consistent snowfall, creating ideal conditions for skiing and snowboarding. Summer opens up the terrain for hiking and wildlife viewing, with wildflowers carpeting the slopes. Fall transforms the mountainside with vibrant autumn colors, while spring offers perfect conditions for late-season skiing as temperatures moderate and days lengthen.
