Mount Hotham Appoints New General Manager

 
 

It feels like there has been a new general manager announced each week across the Australian Vail owned resorts however with the movement of Belinda Trembath over to Whistler, then Nathan Butterworth from Hotham back to Perisher its now time for Hotham to lock in their new leader. 

Mount Hotham Skiing Company is excited to introduce Tina Burford as its newly appointed General Manager, effective from 3rd July. With nearly four decades of experience in the ski industry, including an impressive 32-year tenure at Perisher as Resort Services Director, Burford brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role. Her passion for the industry has taken her across the globe, including Austria, Canada, the United States, and her home country, Australia. Burford's dedication to excellence, inclusivity, and enhancing the employee and guest experience positions her as an exceptional leader who will drive Hotham into the future.

With a career spanning almost 40 years, Tina Burford is a seasoned industry veteran renowned for her contributions to Hotham and Perisher. She has made significant impacts in various areas, particularly in snowsports instruction and racing. Burford's leadership has also played a vital role in system implementations and product innovation. Additionally, her ability to nurture talent within her teams has contributed to the development of many successful professionals in the industry.

Originally from Austria, Burford moved to Australia in 1986 and began her ski career as an instructor at Hotham, where she spent five seasons. She later moved to Blue Cow, which is now part of Perisher Ski Resort. Returning to Hotham as the General Manager is a special homecoming for Burford, as it marks her reunion with the resort where she first began her journey in Australia. Her deep connection and familiarity with Hotham create a sense of enthusiasm and commitment to the position.

Burford is thrilled, honoured, and humbled to be appointed as the General Manager of Hotham. Her immediate immersion into the role aligns with the ongoing ski season, allowing her to contribute to the resort's success right from the start. Her strong passion for the industry, combined with her extensive experience, is expected to drive the legacy of excellence that Hotham is known for. TINA BURFORD NAMED NEW GENERAL MANAGER OF MOUNT HOTHAM SKIING COMPANY  

With almost four decades of experience, Burford will lead one of the most iconic ski resorts in Australia  

Mount Hotham Skiing Company is proud to announce Tina Burford as its new General Manager, effective 3 July. 

Tina is a seasoned industry veteran with almost four decades of experience, including 32 at Perisher, where she is currently Resort Services Director.  

She has worked internationally within the industry including in Austria, Canada, the U.S., and of course, in Australia. Her passion has also extended to representing Australia at two Interski Congresses, and she currently sits on the Board of the Australian Professional Snowsports Instructors. 

“Tina’s passion, knowledge, and decades of experience in the industry will undoubtedly support driving the legacy of excellence that Hotham is well known for,” said Doug Pierini, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, West Region at Vail Resorts. “Her commitment to inclusivity and focus on both the employee and guest experience make Tina an incredible leader who will lead Hotham into the future.”  

She has impacted and influenced both Hotham and Perisher in many ways throughout her career, including with her leadership across snowsports instruction and racing. She has a depth of experience in system implementations and product innovation and is also a great developer of talent within her teams.

Originally from Austria, Burford moved to Australia in 1986, where she worked as a ski instructor at Hotham for five seasons before moving to Blue Cow, now part of Perisher Ski Resort. 

“This is a special homecoming for me, as Hotham is the first resort I worked at in Australia,” said Burford. “I’ve always felt a close connection to Hotham, and to return in this role is a dream come true. I’m thrilled, honoured, and humbled to be the resort’s new GM, and I look forward to diving right in as the season has already begun.”
