Hotham Resort Opening Lifts Today 16 June 2023

Similar to its neighbouring sister resort located slightly further northeast, the Hotham team has announced their readiness to activate the ski lifts and welcome back winter sports enthusiasts for the 2023 season. Lift operations will commence at 1 pm, offering access exclusively to the summit area. This region holds the advantage of being the highest elevated point in Victoria, ensuring the presence of the finest quality snow in the entire state.

According to the forecast, a significant cold front is approaching, anticipated to bring an additional 45 centimetres (18 inches) of natural snowfall. Furthermore, the snow-making team will contribute to the accumulation by producing artificial snow throughout the week. With any luck, by Monday, we can expect the opening of more terrain, and if conditions permit, Heavenly and Village may commence their operations with sufficient snow coverage.

Full Press Release

Hotham is thrilled to share news that from Friday 16 June we will open for skiing and snowboarding.

“With significant snow falling over the past week, the team has been hard at work preparing the mountain ready to spin lifts” said Len Dobell, GM Operations. “We had 27cm of snow fall on Tuesday and through the night to bring our base up to around 33cm.”

The Summit Quad and Summit trainer will open from 1pm on Friday 16 June and with more snow in the forecast, expect more terrain to open shortly. Ski School is open from Saturday 17th June with Mighty Mites, Kids Club, Group and Private Lessons all available to book. All rental, retail and food and beverage outlets are also ready to welcome guests to the resort.

“We can’t wait to welcome guests back for another great season at Hotham,” said Dobell.
