POWDR Retains Ownership of Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort

POWDR has announced its decision to keep Mt. Bachelor as part of its portfolio, ending months of speculation about a potential sale. The company, which owns several ski resorts across North America, had previously indicated that Mt. Bachelor was available for purchase along with two other properties. This decision ensures that one of the largest ski resorts in the Pacific Northwest will continue under its current management.

With the decision to retain ownership, POWDR has outlined plans for future improvements at Mt. Bachelor. These include upgrading the resort's power capabilities and completing an Advanced Wood Energy building. In a move to attract more families, the company is also introducing a Kids Ski Free pass, available with the purchase of adult unlimited or outplay passes. Stacey Hutchinson, a spokesperson for POWDR, expressed the company's commitment to the resort and the local community, stating their intention to continue providing unique skiing experiences in Central Oregon.

The announcement comes after POWDR's sale of Killington Resort and Pico Mountain to local investors earlier this year. While Mt. Bachelor is now off the market, POWDR is still open to selling two of its other properties: Eldora in Colorado and SilverStar in Canada. The town of Nederland has shown interest in acquiring Eldora, while unspecified parties have expressed interest in SilverStar.

The decision to keep Mt. Bachelor under POWDR's ownership may disappoint some local groups who had expressed interest in purchasing the resort. Notably, Mt. Bachelor Community, Inc., led by local stakeholders, had been vocal about their desire to acquire the property. However, it appears that POWDR was not interested in pursuing negotiations with this group.

As Mt. Bachelor moves forward under POWDR's continued management, skiers and riders can expect to see the planned improvements and new pass options implemented in the coming seasons. The resort's status as a major ski destination in Oregon remains secure, with POWDR reaffirming its commitment to the property's development and the local skiing community.
