Niseko's 2024-25 Ski Season Breaks Records

Niseko United has wrapped up another remarkable ski season, with snowfall totals that would be considered extraordinary at most ski resorts. The 2024-25 season saw a total accumulation of 1283cm, slightly above the average for this renowned Japanese powder destination.

The season began with a brief false start but quickly gained momentum. Once the snow began falling in earnest, it continued steadily until the third week of January. Mid-December was particularly noteworthy, recording the highest snowfall totals in two decades.

December's impressive performance set the tone for the rest of the season. The month ended with a total accumulation of 370cm at village level (200m elevation) and 471cm on Niseko United's upper slopes. January maintained this momentum, delivering classic powder days that skiers and riders dream about.

Mid-January brought some unexpected clear and mild weather, providing a brief respite before winter returned with full force in February. On February 6th, the resort experienced its heaviest 24-hour snowfall of the season, with over 30cm at the base and 60cm at higher elevations.

March kicked off with the Rhythm Rail Jam at Grand Hirafu Terrain Park, showcasing top talent. Niseko Village then hosted Snow Machine for the first time, bringing unprecedented après-ski atmosphere to the area. The slopes continued to offer diverse conditions, from surprise powder days in late March to soft spring conditions perfect for park sessions.

Looking ahead to the 2025-26 season, many accommodation providers in Niseko are now accepting early-bird bookings. The resort plans to introduce exciting updates for the coming winter, with details to be announced later in the year.

Niseko United isn't just a winter destination. The resort offers a variety of summer activities for visitors to enjoy during the green season, showcasing the area's year-round appeal. Whether you're planning your next ski trip or considering a summer visit, Niseko United continues to be a top choice for mountain enthusiasts.
