Lake Louise Ski Resort Expands with New Terrain and Lift
Lake Louise Ski Resort has begun construction on a 200-acre expansion project. The development, located at Richardson's Ridge on the backside of the resort in Banff National Park, will introduce new ski runs and a chairlift. This expansion is part of the resort's long-term development plan and is expected to be completed during the 2025-26 ski season.
The Richardson's Ridge expansion will feature four named runs and two to three gladed side country trails, with a wide natural area at the top. The new terrain is designed to cater to intermediate skiers, offering low-angle skiing that promises to be particularly enjoyable on powder days. To access this new area, the resort is installing the Richardson's Ridge Express Chair, a detachable quad chairlift. The base terminal will be situated near the junction of Pika and Corral Creeks, with the upper terminal near the tree line on Richardson's Ridge.
This expansion is not the only recent improvement at Lake Louise Ski Resort. In previous seasons, the resort replaced the aging Summit Platter lift with a four-seat lift and gained access to the 480-acre West Bowl area. Last season also saw the opening of the Pipestone Express, a high-speed heated bubble lift that improved access to West Bowl and black diamond areas.

The Richardson's Ridge project is part of Lake Louise Ski Resort's broader Long-Range Plan, which was approved by Parks Canada after a detailed impact analysis and public consultation. This plan includes various upgrades to lift systems, lodge developments, and parking lot improvements.
Lake Louise Ski Resort, located in Banff National Park, is known for its stunning mountain scenery and diverse terrain. With this expansion, the resort aims to enhance its offerings and improve the skiing experience for visitors. The addition of Richardson's Ridge will provide new opportunities for skiers to explore fresh terrain within the boundaries of one of Canada's most iconic ski destinations.
