Loon Mountain's Major Snowmaking Upgrade Underway
Loon Mountain Resort in Lincoln, New Hampshire, has started work on a substantial snowmaking improvement project. The resort is replacing outdated infrastructure from the 1980s on North Peak with modern equipment, including a new water feed line and valve house. This upgrade aims to significantly boost snow production capabilities in the North Peak area.

The improvements will allow Loon to make snow on two trails simultaneously at the summit of North Peak, a notable increase from the previous capacity of only one trail at a time. Additionally, the resort plans to extend snowmaking coverage to the opposite side of the Sunset trail, with new snow guns being installed on the skier's right.
This project follows last year's investment, which saw the addition of over 100 new snowmaking hydrants across various trails. The resort also expanded snowmaking capabilities to two trails in the Timbertown expansion area: Upper Stinger and Lower Stinger.
Loon Mountain Resort has been steadily improving its facilities throughout the 2020s. Recent upgrades include the installation of the Kanc8 bubble chairlift, the Seven Brothers high-speed quad chairlift, and the Timbertown terrain expansion. The resort has also added a new patio area at the Octagon Lodge.
Looking ahead, Loon Mountain has plans for further developments, including a new pulse gondola to connect the Riverwalk Resort with South Peak. These ongoing improvements demonstrate the resort's commitment to enhancing the skiing and riding experience for visitors, ensuring Loon remains a top destination for skiers and snowboarders in New England.
