Mount Ashland Celebrates Exceptional 2024-25 Ski Season

Mount Ashland Ski Area in southern Oregon has completed its 2024-25 winter season, marking a significant milestone. The ski resort operated for its longest period in 30 years, receiving a total of 318 inches of snow. This season also saw one of the highest visitor numbers in the mountain's history, despite facing initial obstacles.

The ski resort's final day of operation was Sunday, 27 April, featuring spring skiing conditions and a festive atmosphere with a barbecue and beer garden. This late closure date hasn't been seen at Mount Ashland since the early 1990s. The season's success is particularly noteworthy given the challenges faced in December when the main Aerial chairlift was damaged by a fallen tree.

Despite this early setback, the ski area recovered well, benefiting from regular snowstorms and excellent powder conditions throughout the season. General Manager Andrew Gast reported that the resort achieved its second-highest attendance figures on record.

Mount Ashland, a non-profit ski area in the Siskiyou Mountains, is known for its strong community ties and challenging terrain. The 2024-25 season's above-average snowfall, common across much of the Pacific Northwest, allowed the resort to extend its operations well beyond the usual March closing.

As the ski season concludes, Mount Ashland is preparing for its summer activities. These include Alpine Adventure youth camps starting in June, followed by Oktoberfest in September and a Halloween event on the mountain in October. For those already planning ahead, season passes for the 2025-26 winter are now available for purchase on the Mount Ashland website.
