Summit at Snoqualmie Introduces Paid Parking, Charging Up to $55 Daily

Summit at Snoqualmie in Washington is rolling out a new paid parking system starting November 18th, 2024. The changes come as the resort follows the lead of others, like Powder Mountain, Utah, in addressing growing parking demands. The new tiered system will vary based on visitor type and offers free parking for season pass holders, while single-day ticket and Ikon pass holders will pay a $5 daily fee. General visitors without tickets or passes face a steep $55 charge per day.

Night skiers arriving after 2 p.m. will not need a permit, allowing for free parking. Resort officials cite increased visitor numbers and parking lot congestion as the reasons behind the policy shift. However, the $55 fee for backcountry users and general visitors has raised concerns, especially as many popular trails can only be accessed through the resort’s parking areas. First-time violators of the parking rules will be fined $55, with repeat offenses costing up to $200. Quick payments on second violations will reduce the fine to $100 if settled within 10 days.

The resort promises to review data and feedback to adjust the program as needed, but the high fees are stirring debate among guests.
