Brian Head Resort
Brian Head is spending more than $2 million on snowmaking, lift infrastructure and guest services ahead of a season scheduled to start November 6, weather permitting. Nearly $1 million of that went into snowmaking. A new pipeline lets crews run up to 24 snow guns at once on Navajo Mountain, up from 16 to 18.
It should speed up snowmaking on the Paradise trail and the beginner terrain near the Kids Camp Conveyor and Pioneer lift.
Advance-purchase lift tickets start at $9 on select dates. Children aged 12 and under ski free all season on the Power Kids Pass, with no blackout dates and no extra purchase.
Deer Valley Resort
The Hail Peak Express adds 200 acres (about 81 ha) and seven new runs. One of them, Hill Yeah, is named for Hill Air Force Base in northern Utah and ties into the resort’s Salute to Service programme for service members and military families. With Hail Peak, snowmaking coverage reaches 932 acres and the resort runs 32 lifts.
Deer Valley says its skiing has more than doubled since December 2024, with 11 new chairlifts and 4,500 acres across the resort, and describes it as the largest resort expansion in ski industry history.
Snowmaking gets a major boost as well. A new 10-million-gallon (about 37.9 million litre) reservoir will work with the existing Summit Pump House to move 10,000 gallons of water a minute, and can feed every snowmaking gun on the east side.
Ventana adds another 10,000 gallons a minute, for 20,000 across the east system. Between 80 and 90 per cent of the water used returns to its source, either the Jordanelle Reservoir or the Provo River.
Two family features are planned. Pirate King, a green run off Pioche Express, is tentatively set to get rollers and berms for a mild ski cross experience. Humbug will have flowing rollers and a family area on the McHenry run.
Eagle Point Resort
Eagle Point will not open this season. The Cottonwood Fire destroyed its lodge and affected four of its five lifts, and the flooding that followed washed out Highway 153. The resort says it looks forward to welcoming guests back in the future. Beaver TUF, a charitable foundation set up after the fire, is raising money for recovery and restoration work across Beaver County.
Nordic Valley
Nordic Express, a new high-speed six-person chair, nearly doubles the number of runs at Nordic Valley and covers terrain for all ability levels. Season passes switch to RFID cards from this winter, collected at the mountain kiosks. Children aged 12 and under ski free all season on the Power Kids Pass, again with no blackout dates.
Park City Mountain
Park City Mountain’s new Canyons Village Skyway Gondola links the new Canyons Village Parking Structure to the Canyons Village Forum. A new remote avalanche control system in Limelight Bowl, on lower Pinecone Ridge, lets patrol trigger mitigation at the push of a button. It should also let the team open the Quicksilver Gondola connection sooner.
Over the summer the resort rebuilt the dirt foundation of its superpipe using 3D terrain modelling. That cuts the amount of snow needed to build and open the pipe each winter. The superpipe hosts The Snow League event in January.
Powder Mountain
A new Skytrac fixed-grip triple chair at Powder Mountain opens the DMI zone beneath James Peak, the resort’s highest point. It gives public access to more than 1,000 acres of advanced terrain, 900 of it lift-served, with 2,200 ft (about 670 m) of vertical drop.
The zone sits on the eastern shoulder of the mountain and drops toward Ogden Valley. It has open alpine bowls, spines, tight chutes and cliff bands, with 25 named trails. The resort says it is the steepest lift Skytrac has built. It opens as soon as conditions allow.
Sundown Express, a new high-speed quad, replaces the old fixed-grip Sundown quad. The resort expects shorter ride times and more uphill capacity for day and night skiing, and it should be turning this season.
Pass pricing changes too. Kids aged 12 and under ski free with the purchase of an Unlimited Adult, Senior or Military pass, and one adult pass brings up to two free children’s season passes. Teen Pass pricing has been reduced. Kids aged six and under now ski free every day all season, up from age four and under, with no pass purchase needed.
Snowbasin Resort
The Meadow Pavilion at Snowbasin adds space for après-ski, lunch and ski school groups between lessons. It also houses the resort’s ticketing office, so it’s the first stop on arrival.
Snowbird
The Chickadee lift, Snowbird’s beginner chairlift, has been replaced with a new Skytrac fixed-grip quad. Expanded terrain under the lift improves the learning area for all ages and abilities. Snowbird has also added 11 fully automated snowmaking guns and upgraded related infrastructure for the early season.
Solitude Mountain Resort
Solitude is making another multimillion-dollar snowmaking investment, following more than $5 million spent last season. New fixed and mobile snow guns and system-wide upgrades increase coverage and capacity across the mountain.
The resort says it offers Utah’s longest ski and ride season and is the state’s only unlimited Ikon Pass destination. Solidaze, its loyalty programme for Ikon Pass holders, returns alongside the winter DJ and event series.
Sundance Mountain Resort
Electric Horseman, a new high-speed quad, debuts at Sundance this winter. It climbs more than 1,850 ft (about 565 m) per lap in a six-minute ride and puts the whole back mountain within reach of a single chair.
Skiers can reach the summit in two lift rides from the parking lot. The lift opens 100 acres (about 40 ha) of new terrain, including Storyteller, an upper-intermediate groomer cut along the ridgeline formerly known as the Far East Ridgeline.
Around the resorts
Off the mountain, development continues around Park City and Heber Valley. The 180-room Canopy Deer Valley is open at the base of the Deer Valley East Village expansion, with direct access to the Jordanelle Express Gondola.
The Slope, a walkable alpine village anchored by Andaz Heber Valley, broke ground in April 2026. Its first villa residences are expected in 2027 and the hotel in 2029. Two Park City hotel rebrands are due in 2027: Albion Park City, formerly Main & Sky, and Outbound Park City, formerly the DoubleTree - Yarrow.
Travellers flying into Provo can reach Sundance in about 30 minutes via U.S. 189, now designated the Provo Scenic Skiway. The route runs through Provo Canyon and Heber Valley and continues on to Park City.
Further north, Ogden’s $188 million WonderBlock development has started to open, with a new eight-level public parking structure this year. Salt Lake City has launched a new destination brand, “America’s Mountain City”, pointing to the 10 ski resorts within an hour of downtown.
Salt Lake County’s Monte earned the only MICHELIN Star awarded outside Nevada across the four-state Utah, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico region.
